More digital visibility, fewer pests
Whether it's ants in the kitchen, silverfish in the bathroom, or a wasp nest on the balcony – no one wants unwanted guests in their home. But before customers find the right pest control experts, these experts need to be visible. Desinfecta, a leader in ecological pest control, faced this exact problem: The website offered the potential for improvement in terms of findability by potential customers. The digital presence could reflect the company's strength and professionalism even better, and important information was not optimally accessible in some places.
Together with us, Desinfecta tackled the issue of improving their online visibility. The goal was to ensure that customers in need could quickly find the right partner when faced with a pest problem. The aim was to develop a website that is both technically modern user-friendly and informative – perfectly tailored to the needs of private and business customers.

Research as a foundation for success
In the initial phase, our focus was on comprehensive research measures, which laid the groundwork for all subsequent steps. Desinfecta placed great importance on diving deep into analysis to address both their existing and potential new customer base as effectively as possible.
Overview of Research Measures:
Stakeholder interviews (internal and external)
Target group analysis (new customers, existing customers, private clients, business clients)
Competitor analysis and keyword research
Negative examples examined to improve UX
Information Architecture (IA) optimized through card sorting and tree testing
A particularly valuable finding was that many users on the old website were unable to locate the information they needed and left the site prematurely. Tests like card sorting and tree testing helped us restructure the information architecture, ensuring that users now find relevant content more quickly and efficiently.
1
SEO Analysis
Comprehensive keyword research helped boost the website’s visibility in Google search results. We identified relevant keywords and analyzed competitors to give Desinfecta a stronger search engine presence.
2
Card Sorting
This method helps to understand how users intuitively group content. Users arrange content cards according to their own logic, which provides insight into the ideal structure of a website. Card sorting is often used to organize a website's menus and categories so that they align with user expectations.
3
Tree Testing
With this method, users go through a simplified version of the website structure (without design) to check whether they can easily find the information they are looking for. Tree testing is often used to ensure that users can reach the desired content on a website without detours and that information can be found intuitively.
One of the most important insights was that the website's target audience consists mainly of new customers. While existing clients rarely return to the site, it became crucial to create a platform that was trustworthy and appealing, showcasing Desinfecta's professionalism and expertise to attract potential new customers.

Head and VP of DesignDesign: Clear structure and Swiss precision
Based on the insights gathered from UX research, we crafted a design perfectly aligned with the needs of Desinfecta's target audience. The new website reflects Desinfecta’s core values—professionalism, Swiss quality, and scientific rigor.
A minimalist design with clean, structured layouts that build trust with both private and business clients.
A visual approach that highlights technical expertise without appearing too sterile or cold.
The iconic Swiss font Univers, which is a symbol of precision and trustworthiness - exactly what Desinfecta wants to convey on its website.
The Univers font, designed by Adrian Frutiger, is a masterpiece of Swiss design. With its clear and elegant lines, this typography embodies high quality, simple elegance and functionality.

Typography selection: Univers (Bold) and Messina Sans (Regular) used for clean, modern readability.
Our design philosophy focuses on creating a site that effectively serves both private clients, who seek quick, comprehensive information, and business clients, looking for long-term partnerships. The combination of technical imagery and a precise structure helps build user trust and reinforces Desinfecta’s Swiss identity.

Middle Frontend DeveloperTechnical implementation and development
The technical foundation of Desinfecta's new website is built on cutting-edge web technologies to ensure outstanding performance and high user-friendliness. By utilizing Storyblok as a Headless CMS in conjunction with Next.js, Desinfecta benefits from a flexible, modular system. This approach allows content to be easily managed and updated, while the design remains dynamic and scalable for future growth.
Top-tier performance and multilingual support
One of the standout features of the website is its seamless integration of multilingual support. The site is available in three languages, with content neatly organized for effortless management. This intelligent content structure ensures that users in any language enjoy a consistent and optimized experience. Moreover, caching accelerates load times significantly, ensuring that the website is always fast and responsive.
Caching is the process of storing data to fulfill future requests more quickly. In this case, it allows the website to load rapidly by storing previously requested content, so it doesn’t need to be fetched from the server again.
Contact form for swift pest identification
A key highlight of the new website is the advanced contact form, which not only facilitates inquiries but also enables users to upload photos of pests. This feature allows Desinfecta's team to respond swiftly and identify the pest in question – a major advantage for eradicating "bugs" efficiently, both online and offline.
Clear navigation for users
To enhance navigation, the website includes automatically generated breadcrumbs based on the site structure. This feature ensures that users can easily find their way around the site and always know where they are.
With this modern, high-performance web solution, Desinfecta ensures that their customers can navigate the site quickly, safely, and with all the information they need – no matter what "bugs" they’re tackling!

Middle Frontend DeveloperKnowledge transfer for a bug-free future
After the successful implementation of Desinfecta's new website, it was important to ensure that their team could manage the site independently and efficiently. To achieve this, we conducted comprehensive training sessions, led by our Product Owner (PO). In these workshops, Desinfecta’s content managers and team received in-depth training on how to use the CMS and manage the website's content. This empowered them to easily update the site with new information moving forward.
To further support this knowledge transfer, we provided extensive documentation to make managing the site even easier after the project’s completion. This ensures that the team will continue to operate bug-free – whether it’s handling content updates or navigating the site.
Final word: Fighting bugs, on- and offline
With the new website and optimized contact form, Desinfecta is now fully equipped to combat any kind of bugs – both digital and real. The website runs smoothly and efficiently, and the Desinfecta team can confidently handle any new content or challenges – all without the worry of bugs!
