ecatch, the online auction platform
Ecatch is an online auction platform from Mindnow and Cornèrcard. The principle: There are various products to be auctioned, for which interested parties propose their personal maximum price. The bidders are divided into groups in the background depending on the bid amount. The group with the highest bids wins the auction and gets the product at the lowest suggested price within the group.

Little time, many challenges
External developers had realized ecatch as an MVP (Minimum Viable Product). After going live, we took over the project. The development time was limited and the challenges were demanding. For example, there was a lack of a suitable overview for monitoring KPIs. In addition, many end users did not understand the principle of the auction and did not pay after they had successfully won a bid for their desired product. Now we were asked to find solutions.
User-friendly dashboards and onboarding
The goal for us was to develop clear and user-friendly dashboards for suppliers, partners, and admins of the platform. The existing concept, where users first win the bet and then pay, should become more understandable with automated messages. New users should go through a progressive onboarding process that makes them want to interact with the platform, discover new products, place bets, and ultimately pay for the auctioned items.
Our specialty: finding solutions
Taking into account Cornèrcard's business requirements, we first set out to improve the user flow of the auction. We considered a step-by-step and user-friendly onboarding process. At the same time, we developed a comprehensive dashboard that displays all the important figures in a clear format - after all, the platform operators should always be well-informed as well. Our many years of experience in building digital loyalty applications indeed came in handy for this project.
More bets, more successes, more overview
Onboarding combined with a triggered email marketing campaign (so-called “bid reminders”) doubled the total number of bets per user. The cases of winners not paying for the auction item also dropped significantly when they were given a clear explanation of the rest of the process after their first bid.
While Cornèrcard only needs to look at its own dashboard with KPIs and users only see the bet button, complex processes are running in the background of the auction platform. ecatch accepts the bets, divides the bidders into groups, sends automated e-mails, and keeps the show running constantly in the foreground. 1500 sold products within the first weeks speak for themselves, anyway. Our partner Cornèrcard was very satisfied with the platform.
